Devlog: Summer Days 2 – Mainland


Hello! Team Raptor (Raptor Art) here to give you an overview of the current development status of Summer Days 2 – Mainland, as well as its future :


The first question you're probably asking yourself right now is probably "Is the game still in development?" And the answer is a resounding YES. Summer Days 2 is still in development as originally planned, perhaps with some time constraints due to various personal factors that have occurred in my life.

Although many of you have loved the project, the truth is that I (personally) know it hasn't yet reached its full potential. That's why I've spent the last few months polishing the game's small details to give it a more polished feel. I can say without a doubt that you'll notice the game is very different from its previous version.


CHANGES TO THE GAME

Speaking of notable differences, I'd like to announce that the next public update for Summer Days 2 – Mainland will be a (self-proclaimed) DLC, introducing this concept to my games. But what is DLC? Basically, DLCs are still updates to the game that have nothing to do with the story and aim to add, improve, or expand gameplay mechanics. The first DLC I'm working on will be called Fashion Tour, a major update that greatly expands character customization (for now, only with Justin). Here's a screenshot of another of the new additions: Dressing Room 2.0!


STORY and DEVELOPMENT:

As for the story and plot progression, the game is currently split between the three protagonists, with Justin being the first character I'll be working on until his story is finished. I'm currently developing Day 4 of our favorite bunny, a key day for his story (just to remind you, Justin counts up to Day 2 in the public version of the game).

"If you're updating the game, why not post your updates here on itch.io? " Some of those life factors I mentioned at the beginning have forced me to prioritize some things over others, having to temporarily suspend issues like translating the game into English for new days so I can fix/add things later in future DLCs. I also don't want to risk releasing a version with too many bugs or glitches that could require restarting your games (which is ANOTHER factor to consider), among many other things a developer faces every day. However, if you want to play these “unfinished updates” for Summer Days 2 (which allow you to play the story without any issues) you can do so by joining my Patreon starting at Tier 2 (getting a bi-monthly beta of the game) or Tier 3 (getting monthly access to game updates).

The idea is to make the experience of playing with any of the protagonists a little more RPG-like, and that will be the goal I'm aiming for with this game. So you can expect minigames, the famous outings with friends or partners, and more.
